Re: N1600 crossovers for my 604Ds
Rollin Rollin Rollin Keep those coils rollin . :D Looks like your getting some work done. :) are their ports in the fronts? Mine sound better with big gaping holes in the back...just saying. Sorry took me a minute to find your pics. That sure is a small port... I did new impedence sweeps of mine this morning with nothing in the path and then with a zobel in the path both humps were still pretty even. I'm wondering if a longer but smaller port would give me equal but smaller humps or not...
Re: N1600 crossovers for my 604Ds
There's a 5.75" x 3" x 4" deep port in the front towards the bottom. The previous owner had them stuffed with polyfill, and I mean stuffed. I took most of it out. Time will tell what they will sound like. I'm having fun in the mean time.
Re: N1600 crossovers for my 604Ds
Hopefully it doesn't become maddening like it did for me. One day they sound awesome the next day.... :/
Re: N1600 crossovers for my 604Ds
The inductor winding party was cancelled last minute due to the hosts incorrect assumption that his fancy True RMS MM could measure inductance. Alas, it could not.
So the new inductance, resistance and capacitance meter just arrived.

So those who couldn't make it last weekend have another chance to attend.
Re: N1600 crossovers for my 604Ds
I would have suggested that you get DATS. It does all those things, only a whole lot better. It does full audio frequency sweeps across R, L, and C components and shows frequency and phase response, in addition to resistance, impedance, inductance and capacitance. It's a great tool. Oh and did I mention it also has a scope function? :biggrin2:
Re: N1600 crossovers for my 604Ds
I DATS in your Duplex thread, but alas, it's a Windows program. I don't do Windows.
But I have been thinking about picking up an old analog oscilloscope.
Re: N1600 crossovers for my 604Ds
You don't do windows??? how do you survive???
Re: N1600 crossovers for my 604Ds
OK, I think I might have a "window" this weekend to get some inductors wound and crossovers built. I have the layout worked out,
http://www.hostboard.com/forums/hbmc...2013/03/53.jpg
but I'm having a hard time getting my brain around the logistics...like how do I actually attach the inductors to the board? Only one will be laying flat, the other two are standing upright. It seems one zip tie would not be too secure. Any leads on where I can see some pics on how this is actually accomplished?
My curse is that I'm usually compelled to find the best way, not just any way.
Re: N1600 crossovers for my 604Ds
Zip ties or hot glue... maybe clear silicone?
Re: N1600 crossovers for my 604Ds
zip ties at 4, 6, 8 o'clock should keep them on the board plenty secure.
